Eravikulam National Park is administered by the Kerala Department of Forests and Wildlife, Munnar Wildlife Division, together with the nearby Mathikettan Shola National Park,Anamudi Shola National Park, Pambadum Shola National Park,Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and the Kurinjimala Sanctuary.

Rajamalai , at an altitude of about 2650 Metre above sea level, located at 15 KM away from Munnar.   This region is the natural habitat of the Nilgiri Tahr (Hemitragas hylocres).  It was rehabilitated to a National Park to provide a safe sanctuary for the already endangered species of Nilgiri Tahr.  Twenty six species ofmammals have been recorded in the park including the largest surviving population of Nilgiri tahr,[5] estimated at about 750 individuals. 132 species of birds have been recorded which include endemics like black-and-orange flycatcher, Nilgiri pipit, Nilgiri wood pigeon, white bellied shortwing, Nilgiri flycatcher and Kerala laughingthrush.The way in to this tourist spot  is allowed with tickets and conveyance facilities are given by Kerala Wild Life Department, other vehicles will not permitted to enter into the sanctuary.  All vehicles are restricted in a certain point to avoid disturbance to the Nilgiri Tahr, variety of birds etc. The journey to the park is beautiful. After the bus ends, you have to walk approx 1 km. Very good experience. A mountain walk between the Nilgiri Tahrs is highly pleasurable and fascinating.  Waterfall, lush green tea estates and the cool climate will thrill all the visitors. It was adventurous.

How to Reach

By Air
Nearest airports are Cochin International Airport in Kerala, about 150 km and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, about 175 km. Taxi and Buses are easily available from both the cities.

BY RAIL
The nearest railway station is Aluva in Kerala, about 120 km from Munnar, which is well connected from the other cities in India.

BY ROAD
Eravikulam is about 13 km from Munnar, well connected to other cities of Kerala and Tamil Nadu by Public transport buses.
